We were on our way to an appointment at our local vet for a check-up, vaccination and some holiday advice for Duke (our dog) and Ginger (our cat). Competition Time! The Big Freeze Festival

bigfreeze Every year as the weather gets colder, our conversations always turn to snow and when can we go and play in it. A holiday or day trip to the snow can be too expensive for some families, and even though Tim is an avid snow lover, we have found ourselves waiting for snow on nearby hills so we can go and play for free!

This year, instead of hoping for snow to fall on the weekend (we can’t just drop everything now that Alegria is in school) we are very excited that there is guaranteed to be snow in Cranbourne, Victoria at The Big Freeze Festival during this years winter school holidays!

The Big Freeze Festival will be held from 2-10 July 2016 at the Cranbourne Racecourse in Melbourne, and we can’t wait to play in the snow village, snow pit and snowball toss, slide down the winter inflatable slide, visit the snow village and forest, participate in the workshops, craft, construction play and everything else that is on offer during this amazing family event.

Tickets cost $28 for children aged 2-12 years* or $16.50 for adults, children aged 13+ and toddlers aged 1-2 years who will be entering the snow play zone.

Jurassic Creatures, featuring Prehistoric Creatures of the Ice is an interactive walk through event that will captivate young and old alike. You can explore an ancient world full of moving dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures of the ice as they come alive before your eyes.

You will be able to watch them move and hear them roar! I know two little people who can’t wait to get up close with the most infamous prehistoric animals including colossal Mammoths, fearsome Saber Tooth Tigers and everyone’s favourite the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Children will be able to become a Paleontologist for the day as they will be provided with an expert digger outfit before chipping away to unearth their very own fossil.

Remember when we introduced you to Cobsmacking popcorn manufacturer Cobs Popcorn? They generously donated a hamper worth $100 filled to the brim of assorted Cobs Popcorn flavours for our Random Acts of Kid-ness benefiting Justin and his family.

The benefit raised more than $23,000 on the day and we were happy to be involved in a small but meaningful way.

As something fun for the new year, we have decided to share some of our favourite photos with you and let you try and figure out where in Australia they were taken!

Each Sunday (beginning on the 3rd of January 2016) for 10 weeks we will be posting a photograph that we have taken somewhere in Australia.

This 10 week round will be a Facebook competition so you need to enter via the Kidding Around Australia Facebook Page!

To Enter: Put your guess of the EXACT location in the COMMENTS and then please SHARE this post. You must LIKE the Kidding Around Australia page to be eligible. Only one guess per person, per week. Australian residents only. By entering, you agree to the T&C’s detailed at the end of this post.

How is it judged? The first 3 people to correctly guess the location will get a points (1st comment = 3 points, 2nd comment = 2 points, 3rd comment = 1 point).
