We were excited to be invited to PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue last Friday at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne!

PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue brings Ryder and everybody’s favorite pups Marshall, Rubble, Chase, Rocky, Zuma, Skye and the newest pup Everest to the stage in an action-packed, high-energy musical adventure.

Without giving too much away, it’s the day of the Great Race between Adventure Bay’s Mayor Goodway and Foggy Bottom’s Mayor Humdinger. When Mayor Goodway is nowhere to be found, the pups come to the rescue (with the help of little audience helpers) to save the day!

Alegría and Isaac loved participating in this interactive adventure as part of the PAW Patrol Cheer Team, joining the pups as they travelled to Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi’s Farm and Jake’s Mountain.

The show goes for 75 minutes with a 15 minute intermission – plenty of time to grab something to eat or to go to the bathroom.

If you have a PAW Patrol fan in your house, then they are going to love this performance as both Alegría and Isaac really enjoyed it!

Kidding Around … Justine Clarke’s Pyjama Jam Tour

It’s no secret that we love Justine Clarke around here! We have been to quite a few of her live shows and see her almost daily on Playschool!

When we were invited to her latest show, Pyjama Jam! and found out that we could wear our PJ’s and take our teddy bears, well, the excitement reached fever pitch!

There are few things more exciting than getting to wear your pyjamas outside of the house … and we got to go into the city!

Sometimes, you need your Dad to lift you up so you can see the paddle boarders on the Yarra River!

So with “Buddy and Elephant” and “Raffie and Mickey” in tow, we set off on our own little day out!

The Playhouse at the Arts Centre, Melbourne is the perfect venue for a pyjama party and the stage looked comfy and relaxing. In fact, with the little sleep this Mumma has had over the past 5 years I could have easily rested my eyes for a few minutes!

Justine’s concerts never disappoint. She is funny and entertaining and the kids LOVE her. She had everyone dancing to all our favourites, such as WatermelonDinosaur Roar and Dancing Pants and intertwined them with new material. With titles like Pyjamas and Shufflin’ Off To Bed and our new favourites Awake! and Bobby the Tractor, Justine’s fifth studio album is sure to be a hit!

We were given tickets to Justine’s show for the purpose of this review. As always, our opinion is honest and unbiased.

Kidding Around with … Octonauts Live! Operation Reef Shield

EXPLORE! RESCUE! PROTECT!

We were so excited to be invited* along to the preview of Octonauts Live! Operation Reef Shield at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong. (The Drum Theatre is an amazing venue and any seat would be a good seat. It’s perfect for kids shows!)

Octonauts Live! Operation Reef Shield was created and produced in Australia by Life Like Touring (who bought us Peppa Pig Live! Treasure Hunt, Elmo’s World Tour and Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! Australia to name a few). The show features 15 new songs, special effects and video animations.

The show is aimed at children 2-7 years old and follows Captain Barnacles and his trusty crew, (from the hit animated ABC4KIDS show Octonauts), who have joined forces with a host of colourful Australian reef dwellers on a mission to save the Great Barrier Reef and we were all invited to help!

We don’t want to ruin the plot, but when the Octonauts deploy a new undersea medical station to keep the reef clean and healthy, they discover a problem that threatens the reef dwellers and their home.

Georgina Says

The costumes are amazing, and whilst some of the adults around us found the plot confusing in the first act, the kids LOVED it!! And, let’s face it, that’s the main objective!! Isaac loved the bubbles (and he was in good company – all the kids loved the bubbles!).

Bubbles!

The musical numbers are catchy, feel good, tap-your-feet type songs which Alegría was singing long after the show ended.

Alegría says

I didn’t like it, I LOVED it!

The show is split into two acts, and after a short intermission we find that an outbreak of spiky and very hungry Crown of Thorns Starfish are on their way to eat the reef! There is lots of audience interaction and the question is: Will the Octonauts be able to ward off the advancing starfish and save the Great Barrier Reef?

Well, you’ll have to go along and sea (do you like what we did there?) for yourself!

The live theatre production Octonauts Live! Operation Reef Shield is touring Australian capital cities from 25 February to 28 March 2015.

We loved it!
